We Are Home Of The Fighting Irish

We take our Athletics department seriously. College recruiters often come to our games to observe the Fighting Irish Athletics champions in action. The Fighting Irish has a deep history of athletic success.

Catholic Central of Springfield Ohio has a powerful history of developing strong athletes. Our Fighting Irish Athletics understand that to be the best, you need to work the hardest. We often see multiple generations come through our school and compete as Fighting Irish athletes. We invite you to tour our wall of honor and check out the many sports trophies in the glass cabinets Catholic Central has been recognized as a powerhouse for award-winning athletes for many generations. Our earliest trophy in the cabinet dates back to 1928.

Have you met our Athletic Director yet?

Jon Metzger Headshots 0064

Jon Metzger has been the Athletic Director at Catholic Central since August 2017. Jon also serves as the Varsity Baseball coach and he has also coached basketball and bowling here. He is a 2007 graduate of Catholic Central and a 2011 graduate of Wittenberg University. Jon is passionate about Catholic Central and is honored to serve its students and community and build on the rich history and tradition of Catholic Central athletics.

Jon is continuing the tradition of building strong men & women, inside and out. Take a moment to listen to Jon’s short video. Giving kids what they might not get elsewhere is what is special about the athletics programs here at Catholic Central.

Since 2001, Catholic Central High School’s athletic teams have participated in the Ohio Heritage Conference (OHC). Elementary students can compete against other schools in a variety of sports through CYO (“Catholic Youth Organization”). Junior high students also have the ability to play many of the same sports as the high school against other local junior highs. We invite you to attend our games and follow us on social media.

We keep our Catholic Central Athletics active with 3 seasons of sports.

We offer a variety of sports in each season. This gives our students a lot of opportunities to participate in sports during each season – and have a lot of fun doing so!
