Catholic Central Boys’ Soccer Coach Shane Latham Honored for 31 Years of Coaching

Catholic Central Varsity Boys’ Soccer coach, Mr. Shane Latham, was recognized Tuesday, August 23 for his 31st year of coaching at CCHS.

Coach Latham has coached the CCHS boys’ soccer team since 1986 and has compiled a record of 455-107-44 during that time. Under Coach Latham, the Irish have had twenty-nine winning seasons and twenty-nine seasons where the team has won ten or more games.

Coach Latham has won more games than any other coach in Catholic Central history and has an impressive postseason record that includes Division 3 State Titles in 2001 and 2007, State Final Four appearances in 1988 and 2010, five Regional runner-up campaigns, seventeen Regional appearances, seventeen District Titles and eighteen Conference Titles.

Four Irish players have received All-American status and Irish players have received All-Ohio recognition on more than twenty occasions. No other Clark County area team in any sport has had as many All-Ohio honorees.

Additionally, several players have received All-Miami Valley, All-Area, and All-Conference recognition, including sixteen Area Players of the Year.

During Coach Latham’s career at CCHS, he has been named Area Coach of the Year twelve times, Miami Valley Coach of the Year eighteen times, and has coached in fourteen Miami Valley All-Star games.

In both 1996 and 2007, Coach Latham was named Ohio Private/Parochial Coach of the Year. The Catholic Central community is extremely proud of Coach Latham’s dedication, commitment, and service to its boys’ soccer program.
