Growing Together and Teaching for the 21st Century
At Catholic Central, we have a little higher standard than just what the Ohio Department of Education requires for the Grades K-8 curriculum that a public school would follow. With that being said – we are able to supplement that how we see fit. We use personalized learning educational programs like the comprehensive IXL curriculum that gives teachers everything they need for personalized instruction and Go-Math that meet students and teachers on their math journey, raising student achievement scores and supporting teachers along the way.

Catholic Central is committed to preparing its grades K-8 students for the 21st century through a full range of subjects and extracurricular activities. Computer technology is integrated into all subject areas and each student has the use of an individual Chromebook for 1:1 instruction.
Students in grades K-8 also have access to our City Connects Program, where our City Connects Coordinator creates a tailored support plan for every student.
Grades K-8 study a full range of subjects, including:
- Religion
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- English
- Reading
- Spelling
- Art
- Music
- Physical Education
Computer technology is integrated into all subject areas.
In addition, our grades K-8 participate in extracurricular activities, which support and supplement our academic program. Extracurricular activities, including clubs and athletics, build character and promote teamwork.
Our academic program is driven by the graded courses of study, Growing Together and Teaching for the 21st Century, published by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Courses of study include the goals and objectives taught at each grade level in each subject. The curriculum meets all state and Archdiocesan standards. Textbooks are reviewed and updated every five years.
Our Grades K-8 students typically demonstrate achievement above the national average percentiles in all subject areas.
Our students take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills and the In View Cognitive Skills Test each year in grades two, four, six, and eight. Third and seventh-grade students participate in a Writing Proficiency Test.
Catholic Central School is chartered by the State of Ohio, meets all the State standards and requirements, and is accredited by OCSAA a collaborative undertaking of the Catholic dioceses in Ohio and is governed by the Superintendents of Schools who serve as the OCSAA Commission.
