The Senior Leadership Team met yesterday afternoon to discuss a plan for Catholic Central regarding COVID-19 and the upcoming holiday season.
The focus of our planning was on the safety of our students, faculty, and community.
In order to implement a “Catholic Central Quarantine Period,” we are putting in place two weeks of virtual instruction following Thanksgiving Day. We will operate on the following schedule:
Thanksgiving Break: No School November 23 through November 27
Virtual Instruction from Home: November 30 through December 9
In-person Instruction at School: December 10 through December 18
Christmas Break: No School December 21 through January 3
During the Quarantine Period from Thanksgiving Day until December 9th, there will be no athletics or extracurricular activities permitted.
For now, the current plan is to return to school, as normal, on January 4th. Should COVID-19 data tell us differently as that time approaches, we will communicate such updates in a timely manner.
We are currently gathering data on which students will need to borrow a device from Catholic Central for virtual instruction. All students who do not have a personal computer at home will receive a device to bring home with them on Friday, November 20.
During Virtual Instruction days, students in preschool will work on lessons provided for them ahead of time by their teachers (preschool students will not receive instruction virtually).
Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will operate on a schedule that will be communicated directly to parents by their child’s teacher.
Students in 6th grade through 12th grade will operate on the following schedule:
Electronic “Office Hour”: 8:45-9:00
1st period: 9:00-9:30
2nd period: 9:45-10:15
3rd period: 10:30-11:00
4th period: 11:15-11:45
Lunch Break: 11:45-12:15
5th period: 12:15-12:45
6th period: 1:00-1:30
7th period: 1:45-2:15
8th period: 2:30-3:00
Electronic “Office Hour”: 3:00-3:15
Electronic Office Hour simply means that teachers should be “email ready.” Teachers will do their best to reply to any email received within this window as soon as they can. All students must receive a reply/answer from teachers within 24 hours.
We are hopeful that this “Catholic Central Quarantine Period” will reduce the number of COVID-19 cases within our community. Please utilize this two week period to remain at home in order to truly maximize the benefits of our community quarantine.
Should there be a change in any portion of this plan due to state mandates or circumstances beyond our control, we will communicate them to all of you in a timely manner.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
God Bless and Go Irish!
