Frequently Asked Questions

What are parent service hours?

Each Catholic Central Parent is required to perform service hours throughout the school year to offset the costs not covered by tuition. The quota for the 2011-2012 school year is 20 hours/family for full-time Jr./Sr. high students, 10 if attending part-time such as JVS students and 5 hours if you only have a student at the elementary level (K to 6). Hours will be tracked and there will be a fee of $10 per hour not served by May. Parent service opportunities are posted on this website and communicated in various newsletters and emails to parents.

Do students wear uniforms?

At Catholic Central, we believe a person's day begins with proper attire. At Catholic Central School, the school day attire is a uniform. The uniform helps unify our students; it also provides an immediate identity of who we are- Catholic Central. In its daily wearing, the uniform causes us to be mindful of self-control, respect of self, respect of learning, a sense of belonging, and part of a tradition of excellence.

Students are expected to follow all uniform expectations. There are several opportunities throughout the school year for students to participate in "Out of Uniform" days.

Do I qualify for parish subsidy?

The following policy applies to those families seeking the parish subsidy to offset tuition.
     1. The family must currently be a registered member of the St. Bernard, St. Joseph/St. Raphael, St. Mary (Urbana) or St. Teresa Parish.

     2. The family regularly and frequently celebrates Mass at the member parish on Sundays and on holy days of obligation. Contribution envelopes must be used and deposited in the collection basket, even if no donation is given, in order to verify attendance at Mass.

     3. The family gives meaningful financial support to the member parish that can be verified by use of check or contribution envelope. A $10.00 donation per week is expected. If this donation is not possible, contact with the pastor is made so that there is an agreement and understanding.

     4. The family gives some time and talent for the good of the member parish.

Parents of Catholic students who wish to apply for Parish Subsidy must do so by picking up the Parish Subsidy form from your Parish. Forms will be available in the back of the church, from the Parish Office, or on the parish's website. When the Parish Subsidy form is completed, it can be returned to the Parish Office. Parishioners will be notified when the subsidy is approved.
